Ayaat is from Damascus. Even though she is only 23, she already has gone through a lot: Forced to leave her home country at the age of 17 with her mother and sisters, she left her father behind and has not heard from him ever since.
She has always been a hardworking student. She successfully completed her diploma of General Secondary Education with a focus in Science, as well as a two-year program at the Faculty of Dental Medicine in Damascus University. After arriving in Lebanon, she taught Science to refugee students at the Lebanese-Syrian border and volunteered at the Save The Children Foundation. She also worked for Women Now for Development, advocating for women’s empowerment and for child protection and education.
Alongside her social justice activism, she took the time to complete a 24-hour classroom training at the American University of Beirut Medical Center in 2016. With Daughters for Life Foundation’s help, she is hoping to continue studying Dentistry and become a doctor renown throughout the world.
