Daughters for Life Foundation’s Board of Directors visited The Islamic University of Gaza to award twenty two outstanding female students the Annual Awards of Merit.
Dr. Izzeldin Abuelaish, the Founder and President of the foundation, together with the Founding Directors; Dalal Abuelaish and Shatha Abuelaish headed to IUG on July 4th where they had a tour at IUG campus accompanied by Dr. Yahya Al Sarraj, The Vice President for External affairs with other IUG staff.
The ceremony’s opening remarks and welcome speech was presented by Eng. Aladdin F. Al Hashim, Head of Student Grants Department. An introductory video on IUG was broadcast and followed by Speech of Dr. Al Sarraj, who thanked Dr. Abuelaish and the Founding Directors for the continuous support the foundation offers to IUG students. This was followed by Dr. Abuelaish’s speech which emphasized the urgent need to invest in education generally and in young women’s education in particular.
Shortly the honoring of twenty two students took place where each has received the Annual Award of Merit 2015 includes certificate and $500 USD which helps fund their tuition fees.
This acknowledges not only the academic capabilities of these students, but also their courage in overcoming hardship and their contribution towards improving the lives of girls and women in the Middle East.
